Alaska Federal Payroll Tax Relief for Flood Victims

The IRS announced disaster tax relief for individuals and businesses in the Juneau area of Alaska, affected by flooding that began on August 5, 2024. The tax relief postpones various tax filing and payment deadlines that occurred beginning on August 5, 2024 and ending on May 1, 2025. The May 1, 2025 deadline applies to quarterly payroll tax returns normally due on October 31, 2024, and January 31 and April 30, 2025. In addition, penalties for failing to make payroll tax deposits due on or after August 5, 2024, and before August 20, 2024, will be abated, as long as the deposits were made by August 20, 2024 (IR 2024-282, 10/25/2024).
