Louisiana Tax Changes - January 2025
The Louisiana Department of Revenue will stop mailing state sales tax returns to registered businesses.

Reason for Change:
- To reduce costs.
Methods for Submitting State Sales Tax Returns: Businesses can now submit returns and payments through one of the following methods:
- Electronic Filing via LaTAP: Use the Louisiana Taxpayer Access Point portal.
- Parish E-File: Secure online portal for state, parish, and city sales tax returns.
- Downloadable Forms: Print the state sales tax return from the Louisiana Department of Revenue website.
Responsibility:
- Timely filing and payment remain the responsibility of the taxpayer. Non-compliance may result in interest and penalties.

Louisiana Sales & Use Taxes—Louisiana Department of Revenue to cease mailing state sales tax returns to businesses.
To reduce costs, beginning January 2025, the Louisiana Department of Revenue will cease printing and mailing copies of the Louisiana state sales tax return to businesses registered for sales tax in the state. Due to the change, businesses will have three methods to submit state sales tax returns and payments: (1) file and pay electronically through the Louisiana Taxpayer Access Point (LaTAP) account management portal at www.revenue.louisiana.gov/LaTAP; (2) file and pay electronically through Parish E-File, the online portal for the secure filing of state and parish and city sales and use tax returns; and (3) download a printed copy of the state sales tax return from www.revenue.louisiana.gov/Forms. The timely filing of Louisiana state sales tax returns and the remittance of sales taxes due the state remain the sole responsibility of the taxpayer.
